MEET THE TEAM – HILARY BELCHER
What is your favourite thing about being a therapist?
My favourite thing about being a therapist is seeing people grow. I especially enjoy when clients describe to me the moment they have had a breakthrough and they name the change in their understanding and what meaning it has to them.
What is the most common/frequent issue people are bringing to therapy?
Disconnection from body/self or partner
Is therapy an art or a science?
I believe they are both – the science brings a measurable outcome for clients to know they have arrived where they wanted to be. The art lends an eye of appreciation to see what really matters in a personal way.
What do you do for your own self-care?
Surf is my meditation as I love to be in the flow with the energy of the ocean. I find it cleansing and supportive. I also love van life and the excitement of exploring.
What is the book/movie that comforts you?
Dirty Dancing. I love the whole old school-ness of it.
What’s in a joke?
The chance to show your humour and a side of you that wants to make people laugh or to laugh with others. The telling of the joke is key for me. It’s a story that needs to unfold. I prefer them clean not rude.
